Car Sunroofs

Car Sunroofs are fixed or operable vent or opening in an automobile which allows sunlight and fresh air to enter the vehicle. Car Sunroofs generally come with a glass panel option and are also known as moon roofs. Variations of both sun and moon roofs are becoming more and more famous these days. They not only provide benefits of sun and air entering the vehicle but also add to the beauty of the automobile. Sunroof can be factory fitted or fitted manually after sales of the vehicle. Car Sunroofs can either be electric or manual. Electric sunroofs are preferred by most buyers since it is very easy to operate. Manual sunroofs are lever actuated, as in venting type pop-ups, manual lever or crank operated for sliding systems.

The latest trend in the sunroof system is the solar car sunroofs. In this system the sunroof is made of glass which has an inlaid photovoltaic solar insert or panel which makes the glass totally opaque. The solar sunroofs provide electricity to power the interior electric fans to maintain the normal temperature of the vehicle.

Types of Car Sunroofs

Pop up: Pop up panels is removable manually operated tilting panels. This kind of sunroof must be stored when removed. The tilting action creates a vent or full opening when the panel is removed. Pop ups are inexpensive and can be installed in any vehicle.

Inbuilt: Inbuilt sunroof systems provide a full opening in the roof. It has a panel which slides between the metal roof and interior headliners. Generally all inbuilts slide inside the roof.

Panoramic roof system: This is a new type of sunroof system which offer openings above both the front and rear seats and may be operable or fixed glass panels

Folding: This type of sunroof system offers the convenience of a sunroof with an opening which makes the car look like a convertible. The panel is generally made of vinyl which folds back as it slides.

Spoilers: Spoiler sunroofs are a mixture of the pop up and sliding roof system. They tilt to vent or slide open above the roof requiring little head room or roof space. Spoilers generally provide lesser opening space than most other sunroof systems.
