Ashok Leyland

Ashok Motors was set up in 1948 at Madras for the assembly of Austin Cars. The name of the company changed after the equity participation by British Leyland. It was renamed Ashok Leyland and began manufacturing commercial vehicles in 1955 For over five decades, Ashok Leyland has been the technology leader in India's commercial vehicle industry. It has modified the country's commercial vehicle profile by introducing new technologies and product ideas that have now become industry norms.
