Kawasaki was established in an era when Japan was an emerging military power of the Asia and the Pacific. Shozo Kawasaki started Kawasaki Tsukiji Shipyard in the Japanese capital Tokyo in 1878. At present, Kawasaki is a major multinational company with a vast industrial empire and more than 50 holdings dotting the globe.

   

Kawasaki Motors History



Kawasaki started automobile manufacturing in 1954, under a separate entity called Kawasaki Motors. Kawasaki has already established its reputation in bike segment in India and many other countries in the world. They are known to make sturdy and efficient racing bikes, which are able to withstand tough driving conditions and still maintain top speeds. These bikes are the manifestation of power, endurance, charisma and efficiency.

Kawasaki entered the international bike market in 1986 with its Ninja 250R bike, which was more or less an entry level bike. It is known as ZX250 in the United Kingdom. Here in India, Kawasaki has partnered with Bajaj Auto to launch its much awaited Ninja series this year. The new Kawasaki Ninja 250R, which was showcased in EICMA Auto show recently, is rich with features. It has improved graphics, instrument cluster and shades.

Kawasaki is clearly focused on road racing motorcycles with great looks and aggression. Kawasaki produces its bikes and engines at the units located in Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, United States of America and Philippines. Earlier it was Kawasaki Aircraft which used to produce motorcycles, but later on they created a separate entity called Kawasaki Motor Sales.

After 1962, Kawasaki Motors focused on the development of four-stroke engines for smaller vehicles. You can still find an aircraft emblem on the fuel tanks of Kawasaki bikes. In 1963, it was rechristened as Kawasaki Motorcycle Company Limited.�Later on, Kawasaki started importing bikes to compete with other homegrown automobile giants such as Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki.

Latest Kawasaki Bikes Models in India



Kawasaki started launching its high performance bikes in India in collaboration with Bajaj auto since 2008.

So, the top models from Kawasaki such as the Ninja 250, Ninja ZX-6R, Z1000, Sports Roadster, and the Vulcan Cruiser are now marketed by Bajaj Auto in India. The agreement includes technology transfer from Kawasaki and making use of extensive supply network of Bajaj in India.
