Motorsports in India

The Federation International de l'Automobile is the global motorsport governing body. The Motorsports Association of India was appointed as the National Sporting Authority by the FIA. The FIA appoints a NSA for all its member countries. The ASN then becomes the only recognized authority for all events relating to motorsports in its country. The Motorsports Association of India is the direct motor sport representative to the FIA.

   
Motorsports & Motorsports in India

Motorsports in India dates back to the 1970's when Mallya a motorsports freak wanted to establish the MC Dowells Grand Prix. But the concept of automobile racing was just in its nascent stage at that point of time. But the Indian motor sport scenario changed in 1980 with the establishment of the Himalaya Car Rally.

However the real change in the motor sport scenario took place in the last seven years with Karthikeyan, Hari Singh and Karun Chandhok making a mark in the field of motor sports in India. Today the motor sport market in India is of Rs 20 crores. Corporate giants like Tata and Maruti are willing to promote the sport in the country by attaching their names with renowned motor sports persons.

JK Tyre Motorsports

JK Tyres is the flagship company of JK industries which has always been closely associated with motorsports in India. Having had a long relationship with motorsports today JK tyres has developed the right kind of tyres that the world can race upon. It has almost been two decades now since JK Tyres realized the talent for motorsports in India. JK Tyres is actively involved in different kinds of motorsports and is the organizer of several motorsports events like the JK Tyre National Karting Championship, JK Tyre National Racing Championship and Team India JK Tyre(Formula Asia)

Polo Cup Racing

The best motorsport for all enthusiasts is the Volkswagen Polo Cup. Since Volkswagen has set up a manufacturing unit in India and is all set to roll out its new Polo in India along with it the company has announced the beginning of the prestigious Polo Cup in India in 2010. The event will not only establish the name of motor giants Volkswagen in India but it will also raise the bar of competitiveness for motorsports in India. The Polo Cup this year is scheduled for commencement from the 19th of June .the event will include six races in totality, one race being held every month till December 2010.
