Honda Motor Company Limited originally a Japanese automobile company was founded by Soichiro Honda in 1948. Honda is the world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles and internal combustion engines. The company surpassed global automobile giants Nissan Motors in the 2001 to become the second largest automobile manufacturers in Japan and today it enjoys the tag of being the sixth largest automobile producer in the world. Honda was the first Japanese automobile company to produce the Honda Acura in 1986 in the premium luxury cars segment. Apart from manufacturing automobiles and combustion engines the company also manufactures garden equipment, marine engines, personal watercraft and power generators. With its headquarters in Japan Honda extensively operates across Europe, North America and Asia.

Honda Siel Cars India Limited was established in the year 1995 as a joint venture between Japanese automobile giants Honda Motor Co Ltd and Siel Limited, a Siddharth Shriram Group Company with the promise of providing high order technological assistance to Honda motors for their passenger cars segment meant for Indian consumers.

The total investment made by the company in India up till 2008 is Rs. 1620 crores, and there are further plans of extensive investments after the success of models such as the Honda City and Honda Civic. The Honda City made its debut in India in 1997 and since then there is no looking back. The Honda city changed the face of luxury sedans in India creating a revolution in the automobile industry. After the City it was the turn of the Honda Civic to set new standards in the sedan segment. The Honda Civic was a combination of comfort style and customization. The car sported an array of exceptional features like fuel-efficiency and performance-oriented engine, roomy and refined interiors, high safety ratings, sedan and coupe body styles.

The company has a manufacturing unit at Greater Noida which is responsible for the production of 1,00,000 units every year. The initial capacity of the plant was 30,000 units per year but the capacity had to be increased to meet the ever increasing demand of Honda brand loyalist in India.

The Honda Siel Cars Limited has a strong sales and distribution network which is spread across the country. The network includes 111 facilities in 66 cities. HSCI dealerships are based on the "3S Factor" (Sales, Service, Spares) format, offering a complete range of services to its customers.

Honda Siel Cars India Limited reported an increase of 17.92 percent in its annual sales at 61,815 units as against 52,420 units in 2009. The growth rate is phenomenal considering the recent economic downturn. HSCL is all set to further increase its foothold in the Indian market with further investments.
